Hmmm... [07 Jan 2013|05:42pm]

lilgabbymac

For the first time in years I saw some shit that wasn’t really there.  I was a passenger in my girlfriend’s car the other night when saw this dude from the other side of the street start to j-walk.  I watched him step off the curb and in front of a car in the opposite and oncoming lane next to us.  It was close but he made it to the median without too much threat of getting hit. I figured once he made it to the median he’d stop and wait for our car, since there was no way he would make it across the street.  Nope, he just stayed in stride and stepped of in front of our car. I Managed to get out a horrified and breathy “Oh, Fuu…) when the headlights of the oncoming car hit him just right and I realized I could see though his legs.

Snow wanted to know what I had just freaked out about and when I explained it to her she was all, “Holy shit, did you just see a ghost!? Did you just see a fuckin ghost?!”

Then two days later I saw what appeared to be Snow’s aura, again something I use to see all the time, but not in many years.

Ok, I’m not saying ghost, but I’ve seen shit like that many times before through my teens and into my twenties.  It more likely some strange side effect of life long insomnia, but it’s freakin weird.

New and looking for help [27 Aug 2008|02:14am]

Hello,

I am new here, and, like many of you have been searching all of my life for some sort of proof of the afterlife.

To be honest, I haven't found much and despite my collections of ghost stories, my avid watching of supernatural reality television, and my visits to haunted locations, I still find myself in need  of proof that SOMETHING exists after this.  I'm assuming I'm not alone.

I call this being a Ghost Skeptic....someone who is quite obsessed with the supernatural and life after death, but someone who still doesn't quite believe it exists.

So I'm writing a book...an article...I'm trying to gather a collection of TRUE stories from people who have had experiences.  I'm not the first one, nor will I be the last, but this is something I am very dedicated to.

Please, if you have a story, let me know in your reply.  If you'd rather tell me over private e-mails, I'd be happy to do that as well, just give me your e-mail address as I will be making ALL replies screened and will not post any you would rather not have me post.  Having as many details in your stories is very important...the names of places and buildings, dates, years, etc.  Names can be changed if you wish.

I will not use past posted stories, as I will require your permission to use said story if I actually do finish this.  Even if I don't, I will send all of you what I have compiled.

Either way, this is just the beginning of this adventure (well the prologue is written) and I hope to find real people on Live Journal to participate.

Thank you for your time, and here's to not being a skeptic any longer!

If this is not allowed, I apologize.

Self Haunting???? [04 Dec 2007|11:26am]

lilgabbymac
Hey all,

Ok, I read the strangest thing the other day. A woman claiming that She had been in a sever accident and was in the hospital for weeks, in and out of consciousness.

During that time, both her children, her sister and her boyfriend witnessed her ghost around the house doing her usual daily activities. Though she was still alive in the hospital.

She came home from the hospital, both legs were broken, and she was sleeping on the couch one day when something woke her up. She says that she saw herself... the apparition smiled at her then vanished for good.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before??

Just curious

Online study of paranormal and spiritual experiences [04 Dec 2007|11:14am]

belief_study
Apologies for running this advert a second time, but I'm still looking for lots of participants for this study! This in genuine research and is not intended as spam (just a note for people kind enough to have done this study before - it's only possible to do it once, but please pass the info on to friends. Thanks!)

If you enjoy answering questionnaires, please consider taking part in a study of paranormal, religious, and spiritual experiences, being carried out online by researchers at the Experimental Psychology department of the University of Bristol, UK.

If you have had one or more paranormal/supernatural, religious, or spiritual experiences (no matter how small or unexciting!) in your life, and you are over 16, you are eligible to take part. You don't necessarily have to be spiritual or religious, just to have had an experience that isn't easily explained by current science!

The study involves filling in questionnaires at your leisure online, and takes less than 30 minutes in total. The study is *completely anonymous*. Not even your email address is required! If you take part, *please* complete a consent form and *all three* questionnaire forms (so four in total, see links below for more info) and answer all the questions.

If you are interested in taking part in this study, which is fully endorsed by the University of Bristol's Ethics in Human Research Committee, please click one of the following links:

http://www.personalitystudy.net/public_html/consentform.htm
The above links to the consent form, which will shut down automatically on completion, so please note the addresses of the other forms in advance! They are at:

Haunted Hamilton, Ontario [26 Oct 2007|07:30pm]

This is a picture of the notorious Connaught Hotel, so famous for having ghosts in this long-abandoned building that it's a feature on the ghost walks. Recently the feature The Hulk was filmed here and it was up to one man to watch all the electronic equipment throughout the nights the entire weekend.
He was so frightened by that experience that he had to buy a whole case of beer to steel his nerves. He heard bumps, footsteps, creaks and one time he dozed off only to wake up to dozens of disembodied faces staring at him. Now he doesn't want to talk about it.

This area above the arches was particularly eerie as well. The grand steps that led up the mezzanine where these windows are contained a particularly unsettling spirit. Several of the workers felt it.

Shadow people v. Ghosts [22 Oct 2007|01:26pm]

lilgabbymac

Hi again,

I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between shadow people and ghosts?  Is there a difference?

My sister has seen shadow people but never a ghost; I have seen ghosts but never any shadow people.  The phenomenon of shadow people fascinates me.  I'd love to know any knowledge you have and or experiences.

Sleep paralysis or something else? [18 Oct 2007|11:11am]

lilgabbymac

Hi everyone,

My question could very easily become long winded, so I will try and keep it as breif as possible.

Currently I am 30 years old, since I was very young I have been experiencing a strange little occourance right after I wake up from sleep. Occationally I will wake up and there are people in my room.

Once it was a young girl who ran through the room and said "hear, catch!" and threw a ball at me. The girl and the ball vanished as I was closing my hand around the ball to cathc it.

Once there were people ball roon dancing threw my room. Dress in Victorian style clothing. ( I live in Fort Collins, Colorado, middle of the United States) One would not expect to see this here in our present or our past.

There have been many others but the most recent occurance is what is making me seek some kind of answers. I have been told before that what I am experiencing is sleep paralysis, but with the exception of seeing things after waking up there are not other characteristics of the disorder. I am not paralised when I wake up, I do not have a sence of dread, nor have I ever woken up paralised and scared and nothing has been in my room. (ok, I hope that made sense),I have bad insomnia on and off so I have been told that I am hallusinating,I have been told that it is my immagination, and I have been told that it is ghosts or something supernatural at the very least.

The night of the most recent occurance I kept waking up because of an ongoing dream about a girl who was violently attacked and left for dead. In the dream she was my best friend, but I (in real life) don't know this girl, and the life I was living in this dream was not the one I am living right now. In the dream I was the one who had found her after she had been attacked, The violence of the attack disturbed me so badly I woke up. But only long enough to fall back asleep and continue the dream.

After about the seventh time I woke up and had come to the conclusion of the dream, a girl was sitting on the stair case in my room. She was not clear enough to make out identification, but I could tell she was a girl in a white dress, long hair, and light skin. I sat up on the edge of my bead trying to get the horrible images of the dream from my mind. I got up and walked passed her so I could get a drink of water. She never move or said anything, but she staied with me until I was awake enough that I would not fall back to sleep and have the dream again. She was with me for about 5 minutes give or take. I watched her form fade into a greenish light and the light shrink into a small dot into the middle of her chest area and then it was gone.

well that's my story.

What I want is educated opinions. If you think it is just me please say so, if you think it is something else i would like to hear that as well.

thanx

A Story To Chill Your Bones: Near Death Experience [15 Oct 2007|01:38pm]

cartoonmayhem
I shouldn't even be here. I was given extra time on this earth.

I nearly went the way of Anna Nicole Smith, dying before my 40th birthday at almost identically the same number of months before that birthday. On January 10th, 2002 I nearly died from an accidental overdose of opiates given to me by doctors who were careless in monitoring what I was taking. I was given a synthetic opiate to cure a terrible pain from a tooth that needed a root canal that clashed with the opiates I was being given at the: 100mg fentanyl patches, 120 mg of OxyContin. Already enough to kill most people.
The Stadol was too much. As soon as I took it I felt a burning sensation going down my throat then spreading throughout my nervous system. I felt like I was set on fire. The pain was unimanginable. All I could do was put my robe on and call 911. By the time I was put in the ambulance I was already seeing the white tunnel in front of me. My blood pressure fell.

The hospital was full, so they scooted me in what is affectionately called "Death Corner" where the other overdoses were put and a curtain was drawn around me. I was forgotten. Accident victims were coming in and I was left alone to die like dozens before me.

My soul balled up. It's a very strange sensation. You go numb from the feet up and the head down. I felt my head fall back with absolutely no feeling in it and my abdomen seem to lift up as my body was getting ready to leave my body I saw a white light around my abdomen starting to lift upwards and I saw a thin beam of light come down towards me, that white string that takes you to the other side. I briefly saw imprints of many of the souls that died here.

Then very suddenly a very gruff male voice told me to get up and walk. GET UP AND WALK NOW!!
I fell off the bed and landed on my knees. I couldn't feel anything. Then I started to walk. I couldn't feel anything in my feet at first, then, the more I walked, the feeling in my feet returned.
I went into the bathroom and saw this extremely sheet white person with a swollen face and pinpoint pupils. They were so small I could barely make them out. But I kept on walking and walking.

Now the reason why I tell this story is that I believe that was the voice of Odhinn.

And I remembered the movie Pulp Fiction as I was walking my way back to life. Weird, eh?

ghost story [15 Oct 2007|02:40pm]

cloudcandie
[ mood | thoughtful ]

This is about my first encounter with a ghost. First of all, how does it exactly feel to have them up close and personal. For my part, it was the strangest thing that happened to me during my internship as a student teacher in a secondary school (high school).
When I first got to the public school, I noticed that it is set on what used to be a grassland and inside a subdivision. All that entered my mind was, how serene and rural the place is. It had four school buildings and my classroom is the third classroom on the second floor of  the second building. It didn't occur to me that anything would happen.
Weeks rolled by until December came and I noticed my first period students were complaining of how the room smelled. They started complaining about someone stepping on something smelling as bad as rotten meat or garbage. At first, I had them check their shoes at the door. However, when nearly every student from the succeeding classes complained, I had the strangest feeling that something was about to happen.
When lunchbreak came, I decided to stay behind to give the room a good cleaning. But there was nothing that smelled the way the students said. Finally, I sat down to eat lunch while checking papers on  the teacher's table in the front of the classroom. That was then that I found myself looking at one of the armchairs in the back row. I thought it was a trick of light making me see a tall male student with his bent head towards what he is reading. Then I realized that I can see the backrest of the chair through him! When some of my students returned, the questions started rolling out my mouth. Until I got to the part of asking if they had known a student of that classroom who died early. That was when they told me of one who was robbed and knifed in the past year. The student died and his killer was never brought to justice. He had been putting himself through school and hoped to get a high school diploma. The whole time, I was looking at the ghost and he was looking at me.
Then my students showed me the one class picture he was in.
It was him...and that day was his first year death anniversary.

New Member: Here's My Story [12 Oct 2007|08:27pm]

Halloween is my favourite time of year. Absolutely. Positively. I so totally geek out at this time of the year.
October is my favourite month of the year because so much cool stuff leads up to ahhhh, October 31st!

Oh, for my new friends. I grew up in a haunted house. And my parents built a new house in 1982 on haunted land and it, too became haunted. Almost overnight. I'll give details later.

Where I lived in Frederick Maryland was extremely haunted. I lived in downtown Frederick, which is over 250 years old and our house was built in about 1812 on the footprint of one built in the 1700's. While the house was not haunted itself, the old slave graveyard on the street behind us sure as hell was. And we lived one block away from the cemetery where Francis Scott Key, the writer of the National Anthem was buried. You go there are you will notice that all the trees in that cemetery all have their lower branches leaning way down, as if a force is pulling them all down. My daughter had a picture made in front of the gates of that cemetery and a white orb appears over the guy to the farthest left of the picture. I'll have to get her to print out those pictures. It's on a digital camera.
My daughter, who is a Scorpio, has a talent for cryptophotography: the art of catching ghosts on camera.

Frederick was the oasis, the centre where the Civil War happened all around the city. But because it was ransomed by the Confederate Army, it was not blown up. But all sorts of battles happened around it: South Mountain, Monacacy, Antietam, and 25 miles north, Gettysburg.

Frederick was a hospital zone for many of those battles. So the buildings that formed the temporary hospital are all haunted. And that includes spillover to some of the antique malls. Frederick has a ghost walk that is almost as intense as the one in Gettysburg.

As for Hamilton. Well, the building where my husband works, Hamilton Place, is haunted. I think I mentioned before but I'll mention it again that when the theatre first opened, there was a wrestler who won a fight but one of the supporters of the other guy didn't care much for his win, so as he was going out the front doors, he clubbed him to death with a weight.

Ron took me to the front area and I stopped right on a spot between the first and second pillar.
I said "he was killed here, wasn't he?"
He was in a hurry and didn't want to talk about it. But Hamilton Place is on the ghost walk.

I have taken pictures of many of the haunted houses in Hamilton. I also have pictures of my parents haunted house in Indianapolis. The one that was built in 1982.

What I have learned in living in old houses and new ones is that:
Old houses are not always haunted.
New Houses are not immune from being haunted.

The old house where I grew up in is bulldozed. But that's okay. I would never want to visit that place again.
Interestingly enough, the people who bought my parents house built in 1982 put it up on the market just two years later.

Also interesting is that the house my parents build in Shepherdstown, West Virginia in 1999 is already haunted.
My daughter stayed there a couple of years ago and saw an orb pass through the window and go through the closet.
Shepherdstown served as a hospital town for the battle of Antietam which happened in nearby Sharpsburg.
My mom keeps insisting on putting these magnetic induction stoves in her kitchen and nothing attracts ghosts like magnetism. She asked me if I wanted to put one in my kitchen when I lived in Frederick, Maryland.

I said "no freaking way."

Guess where all the ghosts concentrated in that house built in 1982? The kitchen.

That kitchen freaked me out. When it was quiet, I used to hear scooting across the floor which sounded like somebody in mocassins. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and see the lights on. I would make tea on the stove and it would shut off by itself. Light bulbs burnt out in days. Mom went in when they had moved all their stuff out and heard a mother and child talking—in the kitchen.
The woods beside the house was a dwelling for Native Americans. The ghosts weren't menacing. Just curious.
Interestingly enough, my mother is also a Scorpio and very psychic.

I'm a Cancer, and I'm also very psychic. And so is my son, also a Cancer. He's just not as reconciled to it as the rest of us. My sister, who is also a Scorpio, seems blocked to it. My husband a Pisces, is also Psychic but has to block it all out to avoid being a conduit. A conduit is a person who would become a ghost magnet if they wished to. Ever see the movie Ghost? The Whoopie Goldberg character becomes a conduit after she discovers she has genuine powers. (Related term: channeler. A conduit who actually speaks for the ghosts.)

I saw the movie White Noise. While I thought it was Hollywood nonsense, I have heard the voices of ghosts captured on tape. Called EVP (Electromagnetic Voice Phenomena). It's a very freaky sensation.

Pictures and more stories coming.

strange indeed [18 Sep 2007|12:12pm]

LIMA (AFP) - Villagers in southern Peru were struck by a mysterious illness after a meteorite made a fiery crash to Earth in their area, regional authorities said Monday.

Around midday Saturday, villagers were startled by an explosion and a fireball that many were convinced was an airplane crashing near their remote village, located in the high Andes department of Puno in the Desaguadero region, near the border with Bolivia.

Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a "strange odor," local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP.

Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said.

Rescue teams and experts were dispatched to the scene, where the meteorite left a 100-foot-wide (30-meter-wide) and 20-foot-deep (six-meter-deep) crater, said local official Marco Limache.

"Boiling water started coming out of the crater and particles of rock and cinders were found nearby. Residents are very concerned," he said

Okay..this rather creeped me out.. I was recording myself singing on a simple RadioShack microtape recorder..when suddenly I hear something prominent with my naked ear.

I don't want to jump to conclusions. I know it doesn't go with the beat of the song because I've listened through the recording throughly and heard nothing like THAT until it got to that part of the song.

What's creepier is it sounds like a male saying my name. I've reversed it as well and it sounds like "I love you."

If anyone wants to hear it, I'll send it to you.

Just e-mail me at dannie.g@att.net

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know about Strangewire.com, a blog for all things paranormal, supernatural, and the like from legitimate news sources. Unlike the type of sites and columns that deal in "wacky news"-style articles about goofy work mishaps and amusing medical malpractice, Strangewire attempts to deal with phenomena that are part of a bigger question, from strange lights in the sky in the south-west US, to a man with claims of a haunting in Australia, from zombies and voodoo practice in Haiti to global government conspiracies. Fox Mulder's favorite blog, in other words. Recent articles include headlines such as "FLESH CHUNKS IN IOWA WATER LINES" and "NEW JAPANESE GHOST DETECTOR FOR SALE."
